CoMotion 2025 Branding

 

This project reflects my understanding of conference branding as a creative director, encompassing the entire design process—from concept development and pitching to storyboarding, style frames, logo design, graphic design, and packaging.

CoMotion is the world’s largest student-led motion design conference, serving as a platform to push creative boundaries and redefine visual storytelling.

Design Process: The Pitch

During ideation, we wanted to integrate a narrative into this piece. To light the way, we must confront the problem, choose to be guided while also guiding others, and ultimately become the one who makes the choice—whether for better or worse.

The narrative was ultimately narrowed into three chapters: Choose, Face, Become.

Choose: The moment of decision—acknowledging the path ahead and committing to a direction.

Face: Confronting challenges, embracing struggles, and navigating the unknown.

Become: Transforming through experience, embodying the choice, and shaping one's own path.

Storyboard

The Logo Design: CoMotion

We aim to maintain a design language that is cinematic and clean, a vision that is reflected in our logo design and typographic choices.

 
We chose a typeface with subtle weight contrast to maintain a clean aesthetic while retaining some serif elements to preserve its dramatic quality. By softening the contrast and enhancing the connection between letters, we wanted to create a stronger sense of narrative within the typography.

Character Design: Moth & The Girl

A character design was essential to represent ourselves within this storytelling. Instead of using a human figure, we chose a moth—a creature driven by its instinct to chase light—to symbolize our pursuit of creativity and discovery. Meanwhile, the girl embodies the act of breaking boundaries, representing the fearless spirit of pushing beyond limitations.
